Check It Out: Free Monthly Writing Prompts Make It Easier to Create Fresh Content

If one of the hats you wear at your organization includes creating content—for newsletters, appeals, blogs and/or social media— you might occasionally find yourself in front of a blank screen wondering what to write about. If that’s the case, check out the Nonprofit Marketing Guide’s free monthly writing prompts for nonprofitshttp://kivilm.com/prompts! Every month, Kivi Leroux Miller and her team send an email with at least ten writing prompts and ideas for the following month (for example, the March email contained writing prompts for April). The suggestions include:

  • Upcoming calendar events (for example, April includes National Volunteer’s Week, International Children’s Book Day, Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day, among many others)
  • A metaphor for the month with ideas for how to incorporate the metaphor into your writing (April’s metaphor is gardening and landscapes)
  • A list of pop culture events and news
  • A suggested source to find additional inspiration for your content
