The Appalachian Trail District is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Frederick County Health Department, Behavioral Health Services Division. Our goal in working together is to help to prevent substance abuse in Frederick County.
Our contact, Mr. Crum, is a Division Supervisor and Public Information Representative. He is available to make presentations to your unit; work with Scouts so that the Scouts can help develop and deliver presentations to community groups; and, provide you with additional information and resources.
The AT District encourages Unit Leaders to consider ways to incorporate outreach, education and information-gathering opportunities with the Division into merit badge and other advancement requirements.
Boy Scouts and Venturers may be especially interested in working with the Behavioral Health Services Division. The Division feels that a teen talking to other teens and young children is one of the best ways to reach our young people and educate them on the dangers of substance abuse.
