Chattanooga Lookouts

Scout Night at the Lookouts!

Lookouts Scout Scorekeepers: Scouts will have the opportunity to learn how to keep official score of a Lookouts game like a professional scorekeeper! After the game, Scouts will show their scorecards and receive an official Lookouts Scorekeeping Patch.

Pre-Game Parade: Scouts will join a pre-game Boy Scouts Parade around the Lookouts' track. Scouts should check-in at the Great Clips Customer Service Booth by 6:30pm.

The pre-game parade will take place at approximately 6:50pm.

Run The Bases: After the game, Scouts are welcome on the field to run the bases.

Family Camp

Family Camp

April 15-17 2016 at Skymont Scout Reservation

YEE-HAW!!! Good huckdummies and music roots!! Load up your wagons and prepare to head into those yonder hills in search of gold. We want our Cubs to find as much as possible, but watch out for those bandits.

Cub Scout Family Camp is a great weekend to spend time with your family in Scouting.  There will be all-day activities planned on Saturday like BB guns, archery, crafts, chuck box, and dutch oven cooking, games, and more!  And of course there will be free time for fishing, hiking, or just to hang out around the camp fire.  

·        Food plan will not be provided so bring your own or cook with your wheel-horse (friends). This will allow you to plan and cook family or Pack meals together.

·        NEW family camp experience! Stay where the Boy Scouts stay for a week of Summer Camp. The canvas-wall tents will be set up with two cots. Use these or bring your own tent.

·        Check-in starts at 4pm CST on Friday. 

·        Part A and B of the BSA Medical Form is required at check-in for everyone on the property.

·        Register early and online at cherokeeareabsa.com because the weekend is limited to only 200 Cubs.

Come to Skymont and be part of the Adventure! July 17-21 at Skymont Scout Reservation. Rising Webelos 1 and 2 can be part of the adventure of resident camp participating in activities that Boy Scouts do during summer camp. Shooting sports, aquatics, and lots of adventure! WRC focuses on the exciting transition between Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.This year’s theme is Adventure Time, modeled after the popular TV show. Adults can learn the ways of the Force as well. Are you a Star Wars geek or want to help our Cub Scouts have an awesome camp experience? We are currently looking for individuals to assist as den leaders and in program areas for our camp at ALL locations.  No experience required and we will work with your schedule.  Also, if your Boy Scout needs service hours, Cub Scout Day Camp may be a great place to earn them.

Then National Youth Leader Training is for your Troop/Crew.  Designed for Sr. Patrol Leaders, Patrol Leaders, Crew Officers, or youth that will be taking on a leadership role in your unit.  National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program. Leadership Specific Training: If you’re a new leader or you’re stepping into a new position, now is the time to start off on the right foot! Join us for our in-person trainings. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions and network with both new leaders and “seasoned” veterans.

BALOO Training: Want to take your Cub Scout Pack camping? Make sure you are BALOO certified. Come together with other Cub Scout leaders and parents to learn how to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities in a fun and safe manner.

Wilderness Remote First Aid: Going to Philmont this summer?  This is a MUST HAVE training to make sure that you and your leaders are ready for an emergency on the trail.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT): If you have new Patrol Leaders and Senior Patrol Leaders, NYLT is a great way for them to learn how to be effective youth leaders.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day Flag Placement

May 28th @ the Chattanooga National Cemetery

The Annual Memorial Day Flag Placement will take place Saturday, May 28th at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Over 2,500 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Volunteer Leaders come out to pay their respects to thousands of our country’s military. Pinewood Derby season is winding down but if you still have a race coming up, we have numerous items you can use to decorate your car such as decals, colored wheels, etc.  If you have a race coming up and need over 20 derby cars, please call and let us know to make sure we have enough cars for everyone.

Warmer weather is here!  We have Boy Scout shorts available in nylon and canvas, as well as a variety of short sleeve t-shirts on clearance. 

If we don’t have your items in stock we will be glad to order those for you at no shipping cost to you, so let us be your scouting headquarters.

 2017 National Scout Jamboree

July 19 - 28, 2017 @ The Summitt

July 19-28, 2017 at the Summit in West Virgina.  Now is the time to prepare. A once in a Scout's lifetime event, the Jamboree brings Scouts together from across the country for 10 days of extraordinary experiences!  The Cherokee Area Council will take one Troop and ¼ Crew to the 2017 National Jamboree. Scouts should have received an interest letter via mail. We held some awesome technology events at TechTown this year; from the Cub Scout day drawing pixels from paper to computer to the Game Design and Programming merit badge classes.  The facility is incredible! This spring, Cubs may look forward to earning NOVA awards and Boy Scouts may look forward to new merit badge classes such as Movie Making.

Eagle Scouts & NESA

All Eagle Scouts are invited to be a part of organizing the Cherokee Area Council's NESA Chapter.  NESA CAC is open to those whom have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and seek to reconnect with fellow Eagle Scouts by promoting camaraderie among members while supporting Scouts.

Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, April 19th at 6:00 PM at the Council Office.  The focus of this one hour meeting will be to explore opportunities for the chapter and planning future events.
