Come on out and enjoy the fun. As Webelos, you are working hard towards crossing over into Boy Scouts. Webelos Resident Camp gives you a sneak peek into some of the things to expect as Boy Scouts.  This year’s theme is Scout Craft, named after the popular game Mine Craft!

Program Kick-Off

Program Kick-Off & Popcorn Sale Training

July 30, 5:30 – 8:30 PM

Ensure your Scouts have FUN this year by planning your year early at the Program Kick-Off! Each Unit represented will receive a packet of materials including calendars, event flyers and a program CD. Please come early to qualify for the numerous prizes to be given away during the evening.

At the event Units will also be able to pick-up information for the 2015 Popcorn Sale. Do you want to make sure your Unit is funded for the entire year? This can be done with ONE fundraiser: popcorn sales! Units participating in the sale will receive a Unit Sales Kit containing promotional materials including: product samples, banner, posters, patch and a sales training DVD. The Program Kick-off is sponsored in part by Trail’s End.

Dinner will be provided. Reservations are required to order the proper amount of food. This is an event for adult volunteers only; please make other plans for your children.

National Youth Leadership Training

July 19th – 24th

Do you want a better Troop?  Do you want your Scouts to get the best experience possible? Then National Youth Leader Training is for your Troop/Crew.  This training is designed for Senior Patrol Leaders, Patrol Leaders, Crew Officers or youth that will be taking on a leadership role in your unit, so in short, everyone.  National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed program which provides youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home Troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.

The 2015 Hiwassee River Raft Race is quickly approaching. Last year we had over 400 Scouts and Scouters from 24 Units from our Cherokee Area Council, Middle Tennessee and Alabama.

Camp Card Fundraiser

The 2015 Camp Card fundraiser was a great success this year! Over 12,480 cards were sold to help area Units earn money for summer camps and year-round programming. Cards are still available for purchase at the Scout Service Center. If your business would like to be considered for the 2016 Camp Card, please contact Angela McAllister at angela.mcallister@scouting.org

The new Cub Scout program materials are now available in the Scout Shop.

 Leaders: stop by and pick up your materials early before the Fall rush.

Summer is almost here!  To help you get ready for the weather change and summer activities, we have short sleeve t-shirts and Boy Scout shorts.

If we don’t have your items in stock we will be glad to order those for you at no shipping costs to you, so let us be your Scouting headquarters.  Please allow two weeks for regular orders and up to eight weeks for factory orders to arrive.

Philmont 2016

Philmont Contingent 2016

The Cherokee Area Council is arranging a 2016 contingent to Philmont. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime journey. We will have one crew (10 youth and 2 adults) on this contingent.

To reserve your spot, make a $100 deposit by August 15, 2015. All adults will be reviewed by the Council’s Program Committee and two will be selected.

Campaign Update

2015 Friends of Scouting Campaign


Campaign Chair Blake Strickland is pleased to announce that the Friends of Scouting campaign team has met 96% of its goal. 

In his final report, Blake commended the Chairs and volunteers involved for their dedication and efforts. “Raising over $116,000 in new and increased gifts was critical to our success this year.”
Blake and Scout Executive, Scott Fosse, thanked all of the Chairs, Table Hosts and volunteers for their dedication and determination to meet and exceed the Friends of Scouting goal and raise the necessary funds to continue the great Scouting programs, camps and services in our Cherokee Area Council.
