Upcoming Troop Meetings
Troop meeting plans are posted on the website
Meeting during the summer are open events and will be planned during the June PLC. These are outside activities and are great opportunities to bring the family or a friend interested in joining Troop 22

Upcoming Events
6/14-15 Annual Planning Meeting

The troop PLC will meet from 7 PM on Friday until noon on Saturday to plan next year. These leaders will be planning the troop meetings, campouts and other special events.
This is a required event for PLC members (Patrol Leaders, SPL). If you cannot attend, be sure to let the SPL know and have your assistant attend in your place. Bring a change of clothes and a sleeping bag for the overnight stay.
All troop members are encouraged to give their ideas to their Patrol Leader to bring to the meeting.

6/23 Deep Sea Fishing
We are cancelling the Fishing trip as we had no sign-ups for this event. Thanks to JakeO for setting up the event and working hard to give us this option!

Summer Camp 2013
We are booked into Wanalancet site again next year. We have 36 scouts going this year and we will be looking at program and schedules at our May 30th meeting. Parents who wish to attend for some or all of the week are welcome too!

Previews of Events for 2013-2014
Zombie Apocalypse Campout
This weekend will take Emergency Preparedness to a whole new level! The scouts will be learning how to treat lacerations, broken bones, shock, and other emergencies while having some fun pretending they are zombie bites and wounds. During the weekend, an ongoing game will run where a small number of zombies will try to take over the human’s last safe zone. Who will win?

Thanksgiving Weekend
Our annual Thanksgiving weekend will again take place in November. Each year we serve approximately 200 people a full traditional Thanksgiving dinner. This is a great opportunity for scouts and parents to learn how to cook outside. We use fryers, stoves, Dutch ovens and more to cook. Sign up to help for the weekend!

Gold Rush
We are planning our 7th Gold Rush on February 8th, 2014 at Camp Sayre. Invitations will go out this summer. We are looking for a Governor and staff to run the event

Native American Pow-wow
Bridgewater State University will be hosting a one day Pow-wow on November 17th. Some of the scouts are building dance clothes and for the rest it is a nice day event, close to home!

Potpourri
2013-2014 Annual Calendar

Once the scouts pan next year’s calendar we will email this to all of the families of the Troop. Please take a few minutes to review the events and dates and help us to be sure we did not make mistakes. If you see something that you can help with, please let us know, we are always looking for assistance with our program. We have a lot of fun and learn things too!

Gillette Fund-raiser
We have again signed up to run a booth at the stadium. We have been very fortunate with this and we use the funds with the 80/20 split allowing the individual scout accounts to pay for a lot of program features for those scout families who participate. If you are willing to commit to working the booth this coming year please contact Mrs. Mills and Mr. Moss who are leading this fund-raiser. We have some dates now and more are being confirmed.

Scoutmaster’s Corner
In the Patrol Leader's Council, we often talk about the skills of leadership. Patrol leaders who have taken the Junior Leader-Training course know even more about them. I believe the most important leadership skill is setting the example.
There's an old saying that goes: "What you do speaks so loudly that I can't hear what you say." In other words, don't tell me what is right; show me by your example.
It seems to me that when it comes to setting the example, we are all leaders. Even if you're not a patrol leader, the way you conduct yourself will rub off on your patrol-mates. If one patrol member goofs off and is sloppy in his habits, there's a temptation to say, "Well, he gets away with it, why shouldn't I?"
That may be human nature, but it's not the nature of a good patrol or a good troop. A good patrol and troop have to work like a team, with every member setting a good example of Scout-like behavior. Let's keep that in mind always, but especially when we're in summer camp. Let's show our pride in our troop and in ourselves as Scouts and young men.
