Eagle Scout Sam Williams Receives Heroism Award

Sam Williams of Troop 2193, chartered to Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church, is in this month's issue of Boy's Life magazine!

Sam Williams, 17, was helping out at a charity car wash when a friend told him there had been a motorcycle accident nearby. Sam told his friend to tell his mother- a nurse- about the accident, then ran to see if he could help.

Sam instructed a bystander to keep the motorcyclist from moving. Sam then treated the victim for shock and other injuries while waiting for 911 personnel to arrive on the scene. Emergency workers soon arrived and a medical helicopter flew the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital.

Because of Sam's quick thinking and move to action, he was able to use the training he learned while earning his Eagle to help someone in need. Sam was awarded the Heroism Award for his actions.

The Flint River Council is proud of you, Sam!
