Special Recognition: Donald Cone, a life-long Scouter, will be presented the Council's first Outstanding Eagle Scout Award. Joining Boy Scout Troop 50 in 1933, Donald Cone had no idea that Scouting would become such a big part of his life for the next 78 years. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 1937 prepared him and the other members of his Boy Scout troop from Berkeley, California, for this next big adventure - World War II.
Following Don's return from war in 1946, he would not only earn a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkley but rejoin his troop as Scoutmaster.
He would continue his service to Scouting for the next 65 years in Berkley, Palo Alto, and to this day in Morro Bay. His dedication and commitment to the values of Scouting continues to this day as an active Scout volunteer.
Special Keynote Speaker: William F. "Rick" Cronk. Successful businessman, philanthropist, and avid Scouter - all could be used to describe Rick Cronk. From his days as President of Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream to his days as the National President of the Boy Scouts of America, Rick's passion for youth development, education reform, and family have always been at the forefront.
However, his proudest accomplishment is that of father to three Eagle Scouts. Rick's Scouting journey would take on global significance as he went from his local Boy Scout troop to the San Francisco Bay Area Council to the National Boy Scout board to the World Scouting Committee. After his term as National President ended in 2008, he continued until this year as Chairman of the World Scout Committee. Rick will share with us his heart warming and funny stories about being a "Good Scout" around the world.
