The Los Padres Council invites you to participate in the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills training course, a fun-filled program of hands-on activities in the outdoors, designed to give you an introduction to basic camp skills required for Tenderfoot to First Class. It will be held at Camp French, located near Lake Lopez, starting at 8 am Saturday, November 14^th and ending at 4:30 pm on Sunday, November 15^th.

Instructors will help you to hone your skills as you set up camp, cook, work with wood tools and ropes, practice First Aid techniques, plan campfire programs, explore map reading and compass skills, review hiking and backpacking techniques, identify local plants & animals, and experience the Leave No Trace outdoor ethic. Each session will bring to life the pages of the “Boy Scout Handbook” to help you deliver the promise of scouting to yourself and the youth you serve. It will increase your comfort level and give you confidence as a trained, skilled leader. The program will also give you the opportunity to work with other Scout leaders from your area, meet new friends, and reinforce skill techniques with fellow unit leaders as you follow the Trail to First Class.
