San Luis Obispo Sportsmen’s Association Range
3270 Gilardi Road, San Luis Obispo
Register for Shoot-A-Rama by completing the required information on this page, and clicking the Register button at the bottom of the web page.
Shoot-A-Rama is a fun-filled day of shooting sports for Boy Scouts, Venture Crew and Sea Scout members: archery, skeet, trap, Cowboy, black powder, and .22 rifle stations will be available. Scouts are welcome to visit each station multiple times throughout the day; all events are available all day on Saturday. There will be a competitive shooting demonstration during the lunch break that you don’t want to miss!
Camping: Camping is available both Friday and Saturday nights, though not required to attend the shooting venues on Saturday. This is a rustic site; separate bathrooms are available for men and women, but you must bring all tables and chairs your Unit needs for cooking at their campsite.
Meals: Lunch on Saturday will be provided for all Scouts and adults who are participating and staffing Shoot-A-Rama. Lunch will also be provided for those attending the RSO class. All other meals are the responsibility of the attendees. Cooking on propane stoves is allowed (you must provide your own table); individual cooking fires are not permitted.
Training: Once again, we will be providing the NRA RSO class for interested adults, for free (there is a fee for registering with the NRA, but not for the instruction, so bring your checkbook). Because the training may take place offsite, each Unit is required to have two-deep leadership at the range at all times during the event. In addition to registering at www.lpcbsa.org, you need to register at http://www.nrainstructors.org/SignupStudent.aspx?id=118763 with the NRA.
Required forms:Each Scout is required to bring the following forms, signed and completed – BSA Medical Form parts A and B (including the Talent Release), BSA Activity Consent Form, the California Shooting Sports Consent Form, and the SLOSA Waiver. The last three listed are available for download at the event registration website.
Cost: $15 per Scout and Adult chaperone; staff and adults attending the training are free. All attendees need to register online. There is a $5 per person discount if you register by August 8. Registration closes August 12.
