When disasters, natural or manmade, displace individuals
and families from their homes, the Red Cross is there.

Last year, we assisted 856 people in our community who were victims of disaster.

Red Cross disaster volunteers are there providing food,
clothing, shelter and medical care and, Red Cross trained
mental health workers are on the scene whenever needed
to help victims cope with the trauma.

This disaster assistance is free, 24 hours each day, 365
days a year, made possible by the contributions of people
living here in our community.

The heart of the Red Cross mission is disaster relief. Our
local volunteer Disaster Action Team (DAT) focuses on supporting our four-county area by extending immediate emergency disaster related assistance. When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross provides food, clothing, shelter, health and mental health services to address basic human needs.

The Greenville Area Community Foundation recently purchased a trailer for the Montcalm County American Red Cross Disaster Action Team.  This trailer will make supplies needed to respond to a disaster readily available so the Red Cross can respond in a timely manner.
