2012 Summer Camp Program Update | Crystal Lake Scout Reservation  |  http://clsr.samoset.org

Samoset Council has been delivering outstanding camping programs in the pristine Northwoods of Wisconsin for over 75 years. This summer will be no different. Our staff is busy preparing for your arrival. Whether it be a high adventure trek to the Apostle Islands or your first cub camping experience at Akela’s World we will be ready.

Over eight weeks we will open our gates to about 5000 campers. Our staff will teach them everything from Aquanaut & BB Gun shooting to Environmental Science & Wilderness Survival. Campers and visitors will also enjoy evening programs such as “The Great Escape” at Akela’s World and the Order of the Arrow Call Out Ceremony at Tesomas.

We look forward to serving you this summer for an entire session or just for the day as a visitor.

Signup for 2013:  There is so much competition for our children’s time in the summer — sports practices, summer school, well-deserved vacations. But let’s not forget the value of a camp experience — camp is a gift we can give our children that they will benefit  from and remember forever.   Units should signup for summer camp a year in advance.  This allows families to plan their schedules around these events.  Reservations are now open for Packs, Troops and Crews.

Final Payments are due Juen 1st. lease remit payment to Samoset Council at the address below. You can check your balance online or by calling the Samoset Council office at 715-355-1450 or 1-800-303-2195.

Tesomas Advancement:  A detailed schedule of merit badges is posted on our website.  Our online registration system has been online since March 1st.  Units are encouraged to login and register their Scouts for their desired activities at least a month before their scheduled week at camp.  If you do not have a login, please contact Scott.

Micro-Trek is perfect for those who have already done much of what Tesomas offers, but still want to experience an awesome program. Micro-Treks are miniature versions of Hanna Venture Base Treks, which are week-long high-adventure excursions available to Boy Scouts, and Venturers. Scouts can choose to participate in the morning or afternoon session.  Units should register Scouts online. Each section (morning/afternoon) is limited to 10 participants.

2012 Camp Menus are available on our website. Please have your campers review them and anyone with allergy and special diet needs shouls complete a special diet request form so our Food Service Director can contact you to work out details.

Family Fishing Weekend - June 2-3:  Come for the day Saturday or Sunday or join us for the whole weekend. Bring your own gear or borrow some of ours. There is plenty of opportunities to fish from shore and those with a current swim test can use our canoes, rowboats and paddleboats.

This event is in conjunction with the Wisconsin DNR’s Free Fishing Weekend. Residents & nonresidents of all ages can fish without a license over these two days. Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast will be available for $4 per meal.

Families are welcome to stay overnight Saturday and use cabin and campsite space. Use of campsites is free and will be on a first come first served basis. Cabins/rooms can be rented at a nominal fee of $2 per bed.

An Annual Medical Evaluation by a certified and licensed healthcare provider is required for all campers. Parts A, B & C are to be completed annually and signed by a licensed physician and parent. Campers staying less than 72 consecutive hours can omit part C.  All Akela's World sessions are exempt from part C. Medical forms may be sent to camp 2 weeks in advance to speed up check-in. Anyone staying at camp overnight must turn in a form.

If you have further questions about our summer programs, feel free to contact Scott Domino, Camping Director at 715-365-3111 or camp@samoset.org.  We look forward to seeing you at camp this summer to Live the Game!
