NEW: Support for Split Payments with Prepaid Cards With the new administrator shopping cart, Doubleknot now supports split payments for customer paying with prepaid debit cards or gift cards. If a customer pays with a prepaid debit or gift card and the total amount of purchase is greater than the available amount on the card, Doubleknot will automatically ask the customer to provide an additional payment method. Your customers benefit from the additional flexibility in paying for their purchases! BEST PRACTICE: Fulfill Merchandise Orders on a Regular Schedule To charge a customer for merchandise ordered online, you must fulfill the order in Doubleknot. If you don’t fulfill the order, the customer will not be charged and the funds will not be collected. Organizations should not charge customers for merchandise purchases until the order is shipped. When a customer places an order online, their credit card or other online payment method is authorized for the amount of the purchase, but they are not charged until the order is fulfilled. Authorizations have expiration dates, and your organization must fulfill the order so that the customer is charged before the authorization expires. NOTE: Fulfilling orders is only required for merchandise orders. Other kinds of online purchases—including event registration, ticket purchases, donations, memberships, and reservations—are fulfilled automatically at the time of purchase. To ensure that your organization receives all the funds it is due, we recommend setting up a regular schedule to review and fulfill orders. |
