| The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in Glen Jean, West Virginia, will become the BSA's permanent home for the National Scout Jamboree as well as the organization's fourth high-adventure base. The 2013 National Jamboree committee is now looking for youth to fill troops. Additional Information Frequently asked Questions - About the 2013 Jamboree Be Prepared Bulletin Annawon Council will send 1 troop (36 youth and 4 adults) and 2 venture scouts to the 2013 National Jamboree at the Bechtel Summit (the new Scout base in West Virginia) It will be held July 15-24, 2013. The 2 Venture Scouts will join a crew when they arrive at the jamboree. Before you fill out the official Registration below, read the documents linked to this page very carefully, as they will answer many of your questions. We will be posting information as we receive it, to this page of the website. The National Jamboree Website also has videos & information to help you plan. What is the National Jamboree? Every four years (the four year cycle was adjusted in 2010 for BSA’s 100th anniversary), the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America organizes the ultimate Boy Scout experience, the National Jamboree! Over 50,000 Scouts and Scouters attended the last Jamboree and all the excitement of past Jamborees will be incorporated with new themes and shows. What goes on at a Jamboree? Everything that the combined resources of the National Council plus hundreds of the best volunteers from every local council can provide! For example: 5K Fun Runs, 4-way volleyball, rifle shooting, Action Alley, bikathlon’s, Buckskin Games, confidence courses, bicycle motocross, pioneering, rappelling towers, trapshooting, fishing, canoe slalom, scuba diving, kayaking, a huge merit badge midway, daily stage shows and the Order of the Arrow American Indian Village, Plus much more! Participant Requirements - Contingent Troops - Must have a current BSA membership with a Boy Scout troop or Varsity Scout team.

- Must be at least 12 years of age by the first day of the jamboree or an 11 year old that has graduated the 6th grade, but has not reached their 18th birthday by the last day of the jamboree.
- Be approved by the unit leader and Annawon Council.
- Participate in our pre-jamboree training experiences.
- Have filed a Jamboree Personal Health and Medical record with the council jamboree committee before the pre-jamboree training.
- Submit all registration fees per the local council's payment schedule.
NOTE: There are a small group of potential attendees that are currently blocked from submitting an application to National who will wish to attend the Jamboree in a troop. Scouts who are not old enough to currently be in a Troop can notify Annawon Coumcil that they are interested in attending the jamboree. We can then put the names of these applicants on a waiting list to potentially hold a spot. Once the interested party has bridged into a troop and is successfully registered with that troop, then he can go online and submit an application. Participant Requirements – Venture Scout - Males or females must have graduated the 8th grade or be at least 14 years of age by the first day of the jamboree, but have not reached their 21st birthday by the last day of the jamboree.

The males of troop age who are not old enough to currently be in a Crew can register with a troop and submit the Scout application until the time they meet the requirements to switch to a Venturing application. The work-around for females is to notify Annawon Council that they are interested in attending the jamboree with the council. We can then put the names of these applicants on a waiting list to potentially hold a spot. Once the interested party has reached the required age of 14 and is successfully registered with a Venturing crew, then she can go online and submit an application. Staff Requirements & Information - Must have a current BSA membership.
- Completed Youth Protection Training within one year of the first day of the jamboree.
- Ability to arrive on site at the jamboree up to but not limited to one week before the jamboree as deemed necessary by the service director of the area selected to serve in to receive training and assist in the final preparations for troop arrivals.
- Be at least 16 years of age by the first day of the jamboree.
- Submit all registration fees per the published payment schedule.
- Complete any jamboree-specific training as deemed necessary by the service director of the area selected to serve in.
- File a Personal Health and Medical Record as instructed by the deadline.
- Be able to serve as a role model of physical fitness.

REGISTER for 2013 National Jamboree Registration Assistance - Read before entering the Registration Link - SCOUTS: If you have registered to be part of the troop or crew from Annawon Council, you will need to print out a copy of your registration & bring it to the council office. If you are a Scout, you must also have it signed by your Scoutmaster or Crew Advisor. This application must be accompanied by a non refundable deposit payment of $200. (Although this fee is non-refundable, it is transferable to another applicant on any future waiting list for this event.) The Annawon Council Jamboree committee must also approve your application.
- Total fees for Annawon Council will be approximately $1,700.00 payable in installments after you are accepted into one of the troop or crew.
- STAFF: Any youth or adults wishing to attend the Jamboree as STAFF may register on the National Link & should follow the directions under the Jamboree Staff Requirements.
