FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 4, 2005
Doubleknot acquires
Camp Reservation Technology from Indianhead and Viking BSA Councils
SARATOGA, CA AND ST. PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS,
MN – Doubleknot, Inc (www.doubleknot.com)
the leading provider of hosted applications and services to BSA Councils
and other nonprofits, announced today that it has acquired technology
for camp reservations from the Indianhead Council in St. Paul and their
development partner, Viking Council in Minneapolis. These assets power
the www.GoScouting.org camp reservation website, which supports over
5,500 reservations for more than 28,000 campers at five properties in
the Great Lakes region.
Doubleknot will phase the incorporation
of Indianhead’s GoScouting and PrePlanner technology into their
application suite, extending its capabilities to include flexible group
reservation functionality for any type of event and nonprofit
organization. In addition, the technology will be employed in
Doubleknot’s Curriculum Builder which will allow an organization to
define education curriculum, classes, class completion requirements,
attendance records and more.
With regards to BSA camp registration,
the resulting offering will support all phases of the summer camp
registration and management process; from reservation requests, deposits
and progress payments, group and individual camp activity registration,
merit badge tracking and completion records, as well as the ability to
produce a myriad of hardcopy lists and reports for onsite program
management.
“GoScouting is a great fit, both in
terms of technology and understanding of BSA camping needs”, says Joe
Garappolo, CEO of Doubleknot, “With it, we are able to quickly bring to
market the next logical step in our event registration tool and easily
tie it in to our other components, such as external communications and
financial management”, concludes Garappolo. Doubleknot plans to
release version 1 of the solution in early March 2005. An early adopter
program with limited enrollment will be available in February.
“The Indianhead and Viking Councils are
excited to be associated with Doubleknot. Through this acquisition, we
will not only gain access to Doubleknot’s tools to expand and improve
the services on our site, but we will also ensure that we continue to
offer cutting edge technology to our Scouts and leaders for years to
come,” says John Andrews, Scout Executive of the Indianhead Council.

About The Indianhead and Viking Councils
Indianhead (St.
Paul, MN) and Viking Council (Minneapolis, MN) are national leaders
among major metropolitan Boy Scout Councils in quality program measures
such as camp attendance, leader training, and young people earning
awards. Working through over 28,000 volunteers, these councils serve
nearly one in five eligible young people in a region that stretches from
Western Wisconsin to Western Minnesota, including the Twin Cities
Metropolitan Area. Their programs help young people reach their full
potential by developing self-confidence, leadership skills, respect for
themselves and others, as well as a commitment to service. Known for
their innovation in supporting volunteer leaders and members, the two
councils created the GoScouting online system as a collaborative effort
to meet the needs of volunteer leaders and simplify necessary
administrative tasks. Important project support was provided by the
Greater Twin Cities United Way’s “Service Through Technology
Initiative.” To learn more visit
