Doubleknot
helps San Francisco Zoo’s constituents put “Money where their
Mouse is”
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The San
Francisco Zoo (www.sfzoo.org)
reported a ten-fold increase in funds collected via its online
channel using registration and payment capability provided by
Doubleknot, Inc (www.doubleknot.com).
Since last August, the San Francisco Zoo has added self-service
capabilities for:
-
Membership purchases and
renewals
-
Adopt-an-Animal donations
-
Educations class (camps,
little learners, schools) registration
-
Special event ticket sales
(cocktail reception, Valentine’s Day Soirée)
-
Fundraising events
registration
-
General donation
The Zoo’s decision to invest in
customer self service was in direct response to its constituents
needs. “We responded to what we heard were the wants of our
members” says Pat Lathrop, the Zoo’s IT Manager, “which was to
be able to incorporate their interactions with us into what is
now their primary channel of social planning and communications
in their life, the web”.
To-date their investment of
$3,300 has resulted in $148,000 being collected. “Our
departments are very happy with their new capability and the
additional time it affords them daily, and of course, our board
is thrilled with the reduced cost of bringing in money”,
continues Lathrop.
“We recently sent out an online
survey for comments on our strategic plan – 350 responses in 3
weeks. It further proves to us that our online community is
growing, takes action based on information distributed online,
and is interested in being part of a specialized social
network,” she concluded.
“The promise of the web has
always been targeted, call-to-action messages deliver at a very
low cost”, stated Joseph Garappolo, CEO of Doubleknot, “The SF
Zoo, like our other clients are realizing that goal today.”
