We hope you have had a wonderful 2016 Exploring year! As this year comes to an end, it is time to recharter your Post for 2017. Below we have provided you with some helpful links and instructions on how to do rechartering. Our hope is to make this an easy process for you, so please, if you have any questions contact your District Executive or Volunteer Services at 909-793-2463. *Remember Charters are Due December 15^th!* 

1. Designate a Post Leader as the Post Renewal Processor (RP)
   1. RP gathers all the information needed for renewal
      1. Completed applications for NEW youth and adults
         1. Youth App
         2. Adult App
      2. Form 28-573 (Criminal Background Check Waiver if you are a Federal Employee)
      3. Exploring Youth Protection Training Certification for all adults registered or with NEW adult applications coming in for processing. Explorer Youth Protection Training is a national online course available through our Exploring website.  (Training is valid for 2 years)
2. After all of the information above has been collected the Renewal Processor logs into their MyParticipation.org account, clicks on the "My Tools" tab, and clicks the Online Post Renewal menu link. (Renewal Processor must make sure their Member ID number is linked to their account, if Member ID is needed contact Volunteer Services)
3. Load Post information
4. Update the roster: update organization information (if needed), select the current youth and adult members to renew on next year's roster, add NEW youth and adult members from the applications you have, update member data including address/phone and update member positions (a new application is not needed for position changes). Change the name of your new Organization Executive, if applicable, during this step.
5. Check the roster: Validate that the data to be submitted conforms to all Learning for Life rules.
6. Update Member fees: Update fees for the 12 month cycle. (e.g. assign "Multiple" status if applicable). “Multiple” status means a youth or adult is registered in more than one Post and/or Explorer Club and does not need to pay again in another Explorer Post/Club through Learning for Life.
7. After double checking all information is correct the Renewal Processor submits the file and prints out a "Hard Copy" of the Charter to get the proper signatures. The "Hard Copy" will tell you what applications are needed to be completed for the processing of the charter with Learning for Life.
8. The RP sends the signed "Hard Copy" Charter Renewal paperwork along with associated fees* to the local Learning for Life office and/or District Executive by December 15^th

DONE! Once the charter is processed through Membership Services the Post Advisor will be mailed the membership cards.
