Beyond the Basics Camporee - Backbacking Campout 

WHO - This event is for Scouts BSA, Venture Crews - Youth & Adults

WHAT - Learn the fundamentals of how to backpack and how to prepare for a trek. 

WHERE - Buck Hill -  464 Wakefield Road Pascoag, RI 02859

• Check-in located at the Dean Cabin - Follow the signs from the Pulver parking
• Parking available at the Pulver Shelter

WHY - Start the backpacking Merit Badge - we will cover Backpacking Merit Badge requirements 1-9 and 11a. We will have experienced experts in EMT/Wilderness Emergency Medicine, LNT and Backpackers to teach the skills of backpacking and share their fun and experiences.  Participants will receive a partial for the Backpacking Merit Badge. All Scouts completing the course receive a 2019 Beyond the Basics Backpacking patch! 

WHEN - Saturday September 28th, 2019

• Troops can check in Friday night and stay Saturday night if you are camping with you unit. UNITS OVERNIGHTING SHOULD CONTACT CWILLIA7@GDEB.COM
• Program instruction begins promptly at 9:00 AM Saturday 
• Program check-in - 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM 
• Program runs Saturday -  9:00 AM - 5:00 PM 

HOW - Register online today!

• Please come dressed in your CLASS B ( Unit T-shirt), bring hiking shoes to do a 2 mile hike. Please dress in layers and bring a large water bottle for the hike. 
• Includes meals are lunch on Saturday as part of the backpacking trail instruction. 
• Be sure to bring a pen and paper and if you access to a backpacking pack, please bring one.
