Join fellow Scouts and Scouters from around the greater SF Bay area onboard the historic USS Hornet in Alameda, for the annual Achewon Nimat Winter Camp Awareness Training! Prepare your Scout Troop with the knowledge needed to have a fun and safe snow-camping trip, and for the annual OA Klondike Derby event held February in the High Sierra. Training sessions include Tents & Terrain, Winter Clothing, Sleeping Warm, Wilderness First Aid, Winter Foods, Stoves & Fuels.
Check-in is from 7:45am to 8:45am on Saturday, January 19th, with course sessions beginning promptly at 9am and finishing before 3pm. The USS Hornet is located at 707 West Hornet Ave, Alameda CA 94501, and after the training, all WCA attendees are welcome to visit the ship's floating museum for no additional charge (www.uss-hornet.org). Prices start at $12.50 for Scouts and $15.00 for adults, which covers all course materials & instruction, as well as museum admission. Lunch onboard may be pre-purchased for $6 per person (2 hotdogs w/buns, condiments, cookie/granola bar, fruit & water), or bring your own.
