Leave No Trace Trainer Course
Camp Norse, Kingston Ma

Saturday overnight tent camping is part of the course. Out of town participants can also camp Friday night.   Planning and purchasing of Saturday lunch is part of the course.  The course provides dinner on Saturday night, Breakfast and Lunch on Sunday.

Tent camping is primitive, no sanitary facilities are available…No water is available

This course is for everyone age 14 & older who will be teaching Leave No Trace to others. Every Troop, Team, Crew and Pack should have an LNT Trainer. This course is required training for a scout to hold the Leave No Trace Trainer junior leadership position in his troop.

Participants learn LNT principles, skills and ethics through a combination of presentation, discussion, and hands-on activities. They learn and practice techniques for teaching these concepts.

Those completing the course will be BSA Leave No Trace Trainers, recognized by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics and the BSA.

Those who complete the course will be prepared to:

  • Understand, demonstrate, and teach minimum impact techniques to friends, family, scouting groups, and other community groups.
  • Teach the BSA Leave No Trace 101 Awareness class, general Leave No Trace Awareness classes, and lead LNT activities at Scouting events.
  • Lead discussions on outdoor ethics and help others explore their own personal outdoor ethic.

Course Cost: $75.00

Contact for the course is Dennis Dion, 774-254-0680,  dennis@eadion.com

Lead Instructor is Daniel West, Angle Tree District Commissioner, danielwest1@comcast.net

Dan is a Master Educator.  He took his training with National Outdoor Leader Schools, the sole service provider to Leave no Trace, in Escalanti Utah.  It was a backpacking trip in the high desert in the National Park.   He chose that location because of the very different environment from his native Massachusetts.

He has been an outdoorsman for over six decades, and assures the course will have a very strong outdoor flavor, with hiking, camping, and cooking over an open campfire.

Registration and payment must be received by Oct 10, so we have enough food and materials for your training.

More details will be emailed to the registrants two weeks before the course.
