National BSA standards (Climb on Safely) requires Council, Districts and Units, participating in climbing/rappelling activities to have BSA qualified instructors.
Cascade Pacific Council has a great team of instructors willing and ready to help you with the basics of Rock Climbing or refreshing your skills if it’s been awhile since you were climbing. We can also help answer any questions you might have about taking your unit out and becoming a BSA Certified Climbing Instructor.
This training class will consist of a full weekend of combined classroom and outdoor time. This class will cover BSA policy on climbing requirements, proper clothing, gear, venues, skills, supervision and hands on experience of the BSA “Climbing Merit Badge”. You will get excellent hands-on training and experience.
When/Where: May 4th - 6th will be held at Maryhill State Park and Horse Thief Butte in Washington.
How Much: Registration cost is $35 per participant for the weekend session. The cost includes meals and camping fees. A Washington State Discovery Pass will be required for parking at Horse Thief Butte. This is not included in the fees. This class is open to those 18 years or older. Class size is limited to 15, so sign up before space runs out.
This is a beginners/refresher class, no Certifications are issued, but if you have little or no prior experience this is a pre-requisite for the BSA Climbing Instructor’s Class.
