 Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders
Date: Part I, Monday, April 13, 2009 – 7 to 9 pm
Location: Isaak Walton League, 899 Jay St, Elgin 60120
Date: Part II, Friday, April 17 thru Saturday evening April 18, 2009*
Location: Camp Big Timber, 37W955 Big Timber Rd, Elgin 60124
( rain or shine) *Saturday night stay optional
6:30 pm arrival Friday to 9 pm Saturday
Cost*: $30.00/person Early Bird registration ($35 after April 5, 2009)
It is mandatory that you attend both parts of this course
Satisfactory course completion is required for the Webelos Den Leader Award and is recommended for anyone wishing to take Wood Badge training; Webelos Den overnighters require a leader that has completed this course be in attendance at that overnighter. Those who should attend include Webelos Den Leaders, Bear Leaders, Cubmasters, Assistant Cubmasters, Committee Members, Organizational Representatives, or anyone interested in learning basic outdoor camping skills. Please remember that this is an introduction course.
 Emphasis will be placed upon learning the following skills:
Naturalist, Geologist, Forester, and Outdoorsman Activity Badges; Health and Safety; Campfire Planning; Campsite Selection; Leave No Trace Camping; Tents; Ropes: Whipping & Tying; Woods Tools: Knife & Camp Saw; Fires: Site Selection & Building; Cooking; Backpacking & Hiking Techniques: Packs & Footwear; Webelos-to-Scout Transition.
* If you would like to stay overnight Saturday and Sunday morning to complete the Boy Scout OLS portion of Hiking & Packing Techniques, you will be signed off on your training card. You will only have to come back for a 4 hour course instead of staying overnight to complete the OLS for Boy Scout Leaders.
