Mission
“Eagles Seeking Eagles”
The mission of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Eagle Scout Association is to support and accelerate the Scouting movement throughout Western Pennsylvania by harnessing the time, talent, and treasure of Eagle Scouts within the region.
Purpose
Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is the crowning achievement of a young man’s experience in the Boy Scouts of America. Becoming an Eagle is an honor not only as a matter of rank, but also in terms of the respect and admiration with which members of a Troop view their Eagles. Indeed, the ideal path through one’s scouting experience is often referred to as the “Trail to Eagle.” Completing the Trail to Eagle prepares a young man for the various other paths and trails that he will walk in life. Going to college or choosing a vocation. Succeeding in a chosen profession. Raising a family. Helping one’s community. In this sense, the Trail to Eagle does not end at Eagle.
The Pittsburgh NESA Chapter is intended to give Eagle Scouts in Western Pennsylvania an opportunity to help other young men follow the Trail to Eagle and beyond. It is founded on the idea that Eagle Scouts share a lifelong commitment to the ideals of leadership, service, and fellowship learned along the Trail and a belief that the thousands of Eagles in our region will seize the opportunity to help those Scouts who have come after them.
