 What Makes a Trained Leader? Beginning June 1, 2010, an adult must complete Youth Protection Training in order to be registered with the BSA. The certificate must accompany an adult application. Plus, it must be renewed every 2 years in order to remain registered. (Note, with the exception of Youth Protection, you must have your BSA registration ID to take the online training.)
| Online Training: If you are registered with the BSA, you can take online training. You will need your membership ID number to take the training. This number appears on your membership card. You do not need your membership ID to take Youth Protection Training if you are not yet registered. Log into the MyScouting.org site, and follow the directions. Be sure to print your certificate at the end. If you have difficulty with your login to online training, call the BSA national help desk at 972-580-2489. Available training: Cub leader, troop leader, and Venturing leader Fast Starts, This Is Scouting, Youth Protection, Venturing Youth Protection, Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat, Troop Committee Challenge, Hazardous Weather, Den Chief Fast Start, Venturing Crew Orientation, and Scoutparents Unit Coordinator Training. Trek Safely and Climb-On Safely are also available.
