Three Options of AWESOMENESS! Option 1: 5 Day Trek starting with an optional day of hiking into the Seven Devils Wilderness near Riggins, ID. This is followed by 4 days and 3 nights on the water. You will experience many rapids such as Demon's Drop, Snowhole and China. This amazing trek is rounded out by a Jet Boat ride through Hells Canyon on the Snake River. Each trip is accompanied by a BSA Program Guide to provide Scouting instruction and guidance. This extended trip conforms to all BLM and State of Idaho standards for quality and safety. Day One Hiking Opportunities: - Boise 101 Trail to Heavens Gate Lookout. You will have a wonderful view of Hell's Canyon and the Seven Devils Mountains. This is a short but fun hike.
- Windy Saddle Trail to Cannon Lake. (check on the fishing before you go) Take Forest Road 517 just south of Riggins. This is a 3.75 mile hike. This is the primary access to the high country trails in the Seven Devils Mountains.
- West on 124 Trail to Middle Ridge Viewpoint. This is a 2.5 mile hike.
All hikes may be accomplished on the first day of your adventures. These trails lead into the Seven Devils Wilderness area. There is lots of wildlife and some amazing scenery. All groups are divided into patrols of 8 to comply with government regulations of wilderness usage. We expect all units to comply with local laws and practice Leave No Trace ethics and adhere to the Outdoor Code. These hikes are a great option to kick off an amazing journey down the "River of No Return"! Click Here for a Flier about Options 2 and 3 Option 2: Full Day Trip with lunch. Your one day adventure will consist of approximately 20 miles of the most exciting stretches on the Salmon River, with thrilling whitewater rapids separated by lazy stretches of river, where you can swim, or just enjoy the beauty and history around you. Lunch will be provided. Option 3: Half Day PM Trip. Your half day trip will be packed with adventure! This 10 mile section from Riggins to Lucile has lots of thrilling whitewater rapids separated by lazy stretches of river where you can swim, or just relax and appreciate the history and beauty around you. A snack and beverage will be served. In Option 1, Troops will be combined with other troops to meet the 24 rafter minimum. There must be a minimum of 24 rafters for the trip to "be a go". This is a good opportunity to team up with neighboring units for adventure. Option 2 or 3 need a minimum of 12 rafters, 6 in each boat.
